For buildings, mechanical systems provide air conditioning primarily. Traditionally this is controlled by temperature and introduced to the space from the ceiling. However, Energy Efficiency, Humidity, Air Volume/velocity, Indoor Air Quality, and Noise are also items that should be addressed. We address these with each project we do and report anticipated results to our clients if desired. We provide better buildings for our clients by asking questions like:
Why not introduce the supply air near the floor at a low velocity and allowing the air to stratify, drawing the space contaminants and return air from above the occupied zone, displacement ventilation?
Why not use energy recovery to pre-treat outside air?
Why not use higher efficiency equipment where the life cycle cost makes sense?
Why not investigate alternative technologies like Geothermal?
Why not provide real time measurement and verification to trend energy usage and devise ways to further improve energy efficiency?
Our mechanical associates ask these questions and many more on each project.
We advocate membership and involvement in the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) for our Mechanical associates and our associates are actively involved with ASHRAE both locally and nationally.
